YVES SAINT LAURENT HOUSE
Founded in 1961, Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to introduce, in 1966, the concept of luxury prêt-à-porter with a collection called "Saint Laurent Rive Gauche," synonymous with youth and freedom. This shift represented a first critical step in the modernization of fashion and revolutionized the socio-cultural landscape. Parisian twenty-somethings quickly became enamored with the line’s assortment of wardrobe essentials, and the designer’s mix-and-match approach was instrumental in changing the way women dressed. It was this significant shift in sartorial history that Hedi Slimane harkened back to when he rebranded Yves Saint Laurent in 2013. Slimane’s ‘70s and ‘80s rocker vibes, Sac deJour bags and glitter booties brought the brand back to a modern representation of the youth culture. In 2016, Anthony Vaccarello took over as Saint Laurent’s creative director, infusing classic designs with a tough yet romantic update.
